About me

joko 2010No field is as diverse, technically complex and to so many changes as agriculture. This mix of interdisciplinarity, structural change and innovation continues to fascinate me.

I have worked in rural development for more than 30 years. I advise government and nongovernmental, national and international organizations involved in development work. From the beginning, I have aimed for a balance between more intensive production and sustainable use of natural resources. While the subject of sustainable intensification used to attract little attention, it is today more urgent than ever, and it is perhaps the most important focus for the future of agricultural development.
